China has the longest history of aquaculture practice in the world. Currently, its national annual fisheries production and aquaculture production rank the first in the world. Chinese aquaculture is characterized by the INTEGRATED FISH FARMING practices with its own technical packages. It is also a kind of culture system that well fits the concept of sustainable development.

The Asian-Pacific Regional Research and Training Centre for Integrated Fish Farming (IFFC) was established in 1981 by the Chinese Government with the assistance of UNDP/FAO aimed at providing the developing countries with applicable aquaculture technology through various activities such as research, training and technical exchanges etc. Its host institution, Freshwater Fisheries Research Centre (FFRC) of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS) is one of the largest fishery research institutes in China. IFFC is also the Regional Lead Centre in China (RLCC) of the Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA). The training centre has updated training facilities and equipment such as classroom, laboratories, library, computerized-multimedia facilities, internet service, experimental fish farm, guesthouse and canteen, sport fields etc. Since 1981, the center has been organizing training courses on integrated fish farming and other subjects annually, more than 896 fisheries technical and managerial personnel from 78 countries and regions have been trained.

The China TCDC Technical Training Course on Integrated Fish Farming will be held at the Asian-Pacific Regional Research and Training Centre for Integrated Fish Farming, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, P.R.
