2007 Technical Training
Course on Aquaculture
The
2007 Technical Training Course on Aquaculture for developing country will be
sponsored by the Chinese Government as a part of China's foreign assistance
program. The Freshwater Fisheries Research Center, Chinese Academy of Fishery

China
has the longest history of aquaculture practice in the world. Currently, its
national annual fisheries production and aquaculture production rank the first
in the world. The inland aquaculture, especially pond fish culture, has
developed rapidly in the past two decades in China£¬which
is leading in the world in terms of production and techniques. Chinese
aquaculture is characterized by the pond and inland
openwater fishery practices with its own technical packages. It is
also a kind of culture system that well fits the concept of sustainable
development and circular economy and is widely applicable for aquaculture
development in developing country.
Freshwater Fisheries Research Centre (FFRC) of the Chinese Academy of Fishery
Sciences (CAFS) is one of the largest fishery research institutes in China,
aimed at providing the developing countries with applicable aquaculture
technology through various activities such as research, training and technical
exchanges etc. The training centre, i.e. the Asian-Pacific Regional Research and
Training Centre for Integrated Fish Farming (IFFC) was established in 1981 by
the Chinese Government with the assistance of UNDP/FAO. IFFC is also the
Regional Lead Centre in China (RLCC) of the Network of Aquaculture Centres in
Asia-Pacific (NACA). The training centre has updated training facilities and
equipments such as classrooms, laboratories, library, computerized-multimedia
facilities, internet service, experimental fish farm, guesthouse and canteen,
sport fields etc.
Since
