About us

Asian-Pacific Regional Research and Training Centre for Integrated Fish Farming(IFFC) was established by the Chinese government with the assistance of UNDP/FAO, aiming to conduct international training courses so as to extend the Chinese aquaculture techniques with characteristics of integrated fish farming to the world. It is currently the important component of the Freshwater Fisheries Research Centre(FFRC) and as well as the Regional Lead Center in China(RLCC) of the Network of Aquaculture Centers in Asia-Pacific (NACA).

The center devotes itself to international education of technical personnel in various fields of fisheries research, training, management and production. It has very well equipped educational and living facilities such as classrooms, laboratories, library, experimental farm, audio and video teaching facilities, playground, common room, dormitories and dining halls, Since 1981, the centre has conducted 18 integrated fish farming training courses and other subjects, supported by UNDP, international donor agencies and the Ministry of Foreign Trades and Economics Cooperation (MOFTEC). So far it has trained 667 senior specialists in aquaculture technologies and management for 60 countries and regions. Extension of the Chinese technologies and experiences on integrated fish farming to many developing countries promotes and enhances the aquaculture development in developing countries. This also promoted the friendship between the Chinese people and the people in the world. 

The Asian-Pacific Regional Research and Training Centre for Integrated Fish Farming (IFFC) is located at a small peninsula in Taihu Lake, Wuxi, a famous tourist city in China, overlooking picturesque shore of the lake. It occupies a land area of 25ha, with 36,000m² of building area. It has 325 staff members, including 72 professor-level researchers and 82 engineer-level scientists and technical staff.
